In 2000, I started the company Little House Site Tours. I did not realize I was starting a business that would attract twenty-three people from other countries and travelers from eighteen states. I now call these tour participants my "Special Laura Friends."
In the beginning there were only van tours for people eighteen years of age and older. This had to be done because of commercial insurance rules. In 2005, caravan tours were added so more people could go to the sites with families and friends. These tours are made up of four or five vehicles traveling together and have provided a wonderful opportunity for all ages.
In 2001, I started my website www.lhsitetours.homestead.com This experience has shown me the worldwide influence of Laura's life, since I have received emails from several countries.
In 2009, a camping option, along with motel lodging, was made available on every tour. This was done because of requests from so many families.
Three or four times a year I publish the Little House Site Tours Newsletter. I mail this free publication to people all over the world. In this newsletter I try to keep people informed about some of the new features at the Little House Sites as well as changes and additions to our tours.
I have shared my love for the Little House Books and Sites at conferences in fourteen states as well as the World Congress on Reading in Auckland, New Zealand.
A DVD, Visiting the Homesites of Laura Ingalls Wilder, was produced in 2001. I have also written two books, 100 Verses About Laura Ingalls Wilder and Exploring the Homesites of Laura Ingalls Wilder. The books and DVD are being distributed internationally.
More information about our tours is available on this website. If you have any questions about our company, just email us.
